Plenilune is a lunar almanac designed to work offline, with no account and no advertising. This policy describes the few pieces of data the app handles and what it does with them.
Publisher and data controller
Plenilune is published by Rémy Boiré, sole trader (entreprise individuelle), registered under SIRET 79792605200060; publication director: Rémy Boiré. The data controller is the publisher, who can be reached at contact@plenilune.app. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA.
What we don't collect
The app does not create an account, does not identify you, and shows no advertising. We do not track your activity across apps or websites (no “tracking” in the sense of Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework): the app never accesses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
App usage measurement
To know how many people install Plenilune, how often they open it, and whether they add a widget, the app sends a few measurement events to PostHog, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). These events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device — never to Apple's advertising identifier, an account, or an email address — and to a few bounded properties, including the widget count and whether Premium access is active, never the offer or a transaction. Your IP address is neither retained nor used to derive a location: every event explicitly disables PostHog's geographic enrichment. No screen recording, no automatic capture of what you do, nothing shared with an advertiser; the data is kept for twelve months at most. This audience measurement is strictly limited to product usage, which is what exempts it from a consent banner; you can still turn it off at any time in Settings → About → “Help improve the app”.
Website analytics
The website at plenilune.app (not the app) uses Matomo, a self-hosted analytics tool, to see how many people visit the site and which pages they read. It is configured to set no cookies and to anonymize your IP address: it does not identify you and cannot track you across other sites. This data is never shared or sold, and is used only to understand how the site is used.
Purchases and subscription
Plenilune is free; Plenilune Premium is an optional in-app purchase (annual subscription or lifetime unlock). Payment is processed by Apple. To tell whether your Premium access is active and restore it across your devices, the app relies on RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) as a processor. This handles purchase data (which product, purchase, renewal and expiry dates) tied to a random, anonymous identifier — never to your name, email, or Apple ID. This data is used only to deliver Premium features, never for advertising or tracking.
Location
If you enable the calculations for your sky — moonrise and moonset times, and which eclipses will be visible from where you are — the app uses your location to compute them on device. This location never leaves your phone: it is not transmitted, stored on a server, or shared. You can enter a location manually or disable the feature entirely.
Notifications
Plenilune's notifications are local: the app schedules them itself on your device, from calculations made there. There is no push server, so no data is transmitted, collected or retained for them. The four available lines — full moons, new moons, rare events, the day's note — are all off to begin with; the system permission is only requested at the moment you turn one on, and you can revoke it at any time in the iOS settings.
Content updates
On launch, the app checks plenilune.app for corrections to the almanac texts (daily notes, moon names, stories), so that an error can be fixed without waiting for an App Store update. This request sends no data: no account, no identifier, nothing about you or your device. As with visiting any web page, our host sees the connection's IP address; it is not used, cross-referenced, or retained for tracking. The app works entirely offline: the texts ship with it, and this check only corrects them.
